During the spring and fall we see shorebirds using local beaches and estuaries as they pause to feed and rest during their long and demanding migrations. Shorebirds breeding in North America migrate extremely long distances to winter in the Southern Hemisphere on both sides of the Pacific Ocean. Some individuals visit two or three continents during their annual journeys. Join us to see and learn more about these amazing migrants. Roy’s presentation will include photos taken locally as well as on the Arctic breeding grounds.
Roy Lowe is a resident of Waldport, Oregon and an avid wildlife photographer. He was employed with the US Fish and Wildlife Service for more than 37 years. At the time of his retirement in 2015, Roy was the Refuge Manager of the Oregon Coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
