Print competition takes place monthly from October through May. Complete rules can be found on the 4Cs website.
YAAP members interested in submitting prints for competition should follow the guidelines below. Please refer to the 4Cs website at the link above for the latest information.
2022 Print Guidelines
Print Competition includes all prints, whether made by traditional methods, on digital printers and/or in digital cameras and/or commercially made prints. All will be competing equally in this category.
Images that have received an award (Award of Merit or Honorable Mention) in any previous 4C’s competition year are not eligible to be re-entered.
Prints must be entered unmounted for the monthly competition. Call back/year end competition entries must be mounted (fixed to a hard, lightweight backing mat board or foam core board).
Image Size
Prints must be a minimum size of 35-square inches and may not exceed 96 square inches (with the longest dimension not exceeding 20 inches).
When delivering to our YAAP Print Chair, please have your print in a cellophane envelope for protection (and then in a manila envelope with a piece of cardboard to be super safe).
Competition categories
Monochrome: Monochrome prints are defined to consist of only white and black, as well as all shades of gray in between. Toning is allowed, but must cover the entire image and be of a single color; e.g. sepia toning. Prints with spot color, selective color or that are colored with two or more colors must be entered in the Color Print Category.
Color: All prints not categorized as monochrome are considered to be part of the Color Print Category.
Awards of Merit and Honorable Mention will be awarded in each monthly competition.
Guidelines for Submission to the YAAP Print Chair
Please provide this information with your print:
- Category that image will compete in (example: Monochrome or Color)
- Title (example: “My Best Image”)
- Entrant’s Full Name and Address (example: Joe A. Photographer / 1234 Any Street, Sometown, USA 00000). You may put this info on a piece of paper in the envelope or use an address label

If your photo is very abstract, the YAAP Print Chair needs to know which end is up, so that the label can be affixed properly.
Deadline to submit to YAAP Print Chair
The deadline will typically be around the 15th of each submission month. Watch your email for the a message from our Print Chair with the exact deadline date during the month in which submissions are being accepted.
